If anyone at Northview knows anything about fashion, it’s Caleb Wells. Wells is Northview’s biggest up-and-coming fashion designer with a bright future ahead of him. In recent years, Wells’ passion has launched into one of the most successful and awe-inspiring careers most high schoolers have only dreamed of, especially with the recent launch of his creative design line Ryan. But what lead to his recent success?
“I’ve really loved clothing and dress [for as long as] I can remember,”said Wells. “But when I knew I wanted to pursue it, I was in sixth grade.” Last January, Wells entered a scholastic arts and writing competition and won four different awards for his pieces, one gold key (first place) and three honorable mentions (third place). This began to set a precedent for a successful year in fashion for Wells.

While his favorites things to design are gowns, Wells has had the opportunity to design some unique pieces. He has helped design dresses for dances, such as the one he made last year for Quinn Kirby, a Northview alumni, who rocked his dress at prom last spring. More recently, Wells had the honor of designing the costumes for Northview’s twenty-six member color guard for the 2016 marching show “Poseidon” which took three weeks to make and perfect.

One of Wells’ most recent projects was his fashion show on January 19th. This has been the hardest part of fashion for him, as the fashion show that he put on is of his design and on his own time.
“The past two weeks [have been] the first time I actually received help from other people and that’s only for staging the show, not seeing the garments.” The show, which had been planned since last year, featured lots of pinks, sheer fabric, and interesting cutouts.
Wells is finding success in the world of fashion and there is much anticipation to see where his career will bring him, especially in the upcoming weeks.

Stay tuned for the next run of The Roar where part two of “A Dream of His Design” will be released, following up Wells’ fashion show on the 19th
