Dominating Districts, Men’s Varsity Basketball Defeats Greenville

By Payton Neil

Rounding out their regular season 10-11, 6-6 in their conference, Northview’s men's basketball team went on to compete in the first round for the district title. They played Greenville who Northview has already beaten twice this season.

The game was full of turnovers for both teams, but Northview managed to stay in the lead until the very end of the game. The boys beat Greenville 59-45.

During the first half Northview showed their strength on the defensive end. After Northview established their lead in the third quarter, the game started to get more physical as Greenville tried to claw their way back, shown by the rising number in fouls on both teams.

Northview was led by outstanding performances by both senior Tommy Lewis and sophomore Cody Tierney. Lewis scored 17 points by the end of the game, nine of which were from beyond the arc and six were from the free-throw line. Tierney had a total of 13 points, scoring four in both the second and third quarter.
Zach Mulheisen also contributed to the win with nine points, along with Seth Henshaw who put six points on the board by the end of the night.

Northview will move on to play Forest Hills Northern on Friday, March 10th at Rockford High School.
