Best Moments of Boys Basketball

With only one loss under their belts, the freshman class started their high school basketball careers on a high note. While the seniors didn’t have an as equally successful season, they still had moments that turned heads.

The biggest highlight of the season for the freshman was their 17 game winning streak. Going almost the entire season without losing a game, the team is very proud of everything they accomplished. They set out to be undefeated and worked extremely hard every game, ending with a final record of 19-1. Freshman Sam Glynn attributes a large part of their success to their coach, Terry Sare.

“You'll never meet a guy that has such passion for the game and all of his players. As his first year as freshman coach, he took care of business and never failed any of us,” Glynn said.
Another key factor in the freshmen’s success was their chemistry. The majority of the players on the team have been playing together for many years now, and they grew even closer this season. The relationship and trust between teammates helped achieve their record. Every player on the team trusted the skill of one another, knowing they had a good teammate next to them on the court.

“The depth of the team was unreal and it’ll be hard to find any team like that,” Glynn said .
The Varsity’s success was more sporadic, winning only about half of their games. The biggest win of the season was against Lowell, beating them on their own home court. Despite having young, inexperienced talent, the Varsity team proved their worth on many occasions. Senior and captain, Tommy Lewis, was most proud of the team’s work ethic throughout the season.
“We are a scrappy, hard-working team and refuse to be counted out,” Lewis said.

Head coach Michael Kapustka was very proud of the way the seniors stepped up this year to lead the team. Being their last year, they handled the pressure well and stayed focused for every game. He mentioned the selflessness of the seniors and how their attitude allowed the team to grow as a whole.
What Lewis is going to miss most is the Friday nights on the court with his teammates, being introduced under the spotlight.

“It was a pleasure being able to call it my home court for these past two years,” Lewis said.
