Northview Arts Proves that America is Beautiful

In spite of the current divided political landscape, Northview’s Fine Arts Department is coming together to prove that America really is beautiful. Art department student teacher, Darius Baldwin, energized by the divisive election, turned to his students to promote a message of unity through their art. The Fine Arts students took part in a video that featured not only the social justice icons of the Introduction to Art students, but also the talented voices of Chorale, the freshman choir, who recorded the song, “America the Beautiful.”

David Tay, junior at Northview High School, produced the video alongside Baldwin. The message of the video is important to Tay, as the election put people against each other, and heated political climate was felt through the school. “We have to be able to see past barriers like political parties and accept each other for who we are as a people,” Tay said.

Tay was happy to produce the piece for the message and its reach. “The video was a great way to feature these students and their artwork while still keeping the theme of the video consistent,” he said. The project was a perfect example of the allurement and unity that makes America beautiful.
