Grand Rapids is an amazing place and many people don’t realize how much you can do downtown. In June, the city will be hosting its annual Festival of the Arts, a great opportunity to walk around with friends and enjoy what the city has to offer. Also, there’s a number of local coffee shops to cool off in. Why not try something other than Starbucks for a change? Deja Brew on the East Beltline has a wide variety of drinks to choose from, hot and cold, and has a comfortable atmosphere (PS to students: if you show this article to the baristas, you’ll get a discount!)

Grand Rapids is also home to many concert venues and someone is always in town. Go see that band you love or maybe try seeing someone new. Is your favorite artist going on tour but will not be nearby? Roadtrip! Concerts are a great way to spend summer nights and connect with friends.
